Older, Wiser and Slower
December 2011
I will be 67 years old January 18, 2012, and our ministry will soon be thirty-five years old. I
have had the joy of preaching thousands of revival meetings and have served in over 500
churches and preached in several countries. I have been blessed with health, strength,
and a wonderful wife and family and have met so many wonderful people. Life has been
a wonderful experience for me and continues to be rewarding as time begins to take its
toll.
What have I learned over these many years? I have discovered that I do not know very
much. The old saying "the older the wiser" is certainly a myth. The more I learn and
discover the more I realize just how little I actually know. I know a lot more stuff than I did
with I was younger, but now i do not have the energy to do things that I now how to do
much better. I have also discovered that a lot of the things that I knew I cannot
remember. Even in preaching I now have to read from the Bible, scriptures that I once
knew by heart. I can still remember many scriptures and quote them, but I have forgotten
where in the Bible they are located. I would be a better husband and father now that I was
forty years ago, but my children are grown and have kids of their own and my wife doesn't
need my attention the way she did when she was younger.
I just wanted to warn you that as you older you do not necessarily get wiser, but I can
promise you will be slower. However, take heart, I am still having a ball.

Life is Good
December 2011
As we prepare for Thanksgiving and Christmas, I cannot help but be grateful for life. I
wear a T-shirt my daughter gave me that had the logo "Life is Good" printed on it and that
is certainly how I feel. Life is a gift from God, for I believe He is the source of all things but
how I live that life is up to me. There are many things over which I have no control: I have
to live on this earth, eat food, drink water and breathe oxygen. I was a creation from my
parents and that determined how I looked, my genetic makeup and possibly some of my
emotional characteristics. However, my choices in life were mine to make. I decided
who I wanted to marry, what I wanted to do as an occupation, when and how to raise my
children and whatever else I wanted to experience both good and bad. The greatest thing
about life is that we do have lots of freedom and choices even though much of our life is
determined for us. Christ gave His life so that we could better know how to experience a
relationship with the Creator of life. As you celebrate this Thanksgiving and Christmas,
thank God for giving you life.

Where do we stand?
December 2011
This year revivals slowed down a bit, but it seemed we stayed as busy or busier than
usual. We had some great services and saw lots of decisions, and we met the most
wonderful people. Between revivals we buried many friends, Dale spoke at several
services, he did a baptism service, we had singing engagements, a conference, some
retreats, a big mission trip, visited the children 3 or 4 time and between times I tried to set
up a new bookkeeping system which has been a headache.
I still don't know where we stand financially --- I am writing this early so we can get it out,
but I do know that what we have needed has always been there. I ordered tech help and
was told a different way to do things each time I sought help. I cancelled the tech help.
Friends have helped, but even they struggled because I use non-profit bookkeeping and
the terminology and way of doing things is different. God has been with me all the way. I
also know that even in these difficult economic times we will make our budget. We just
keep on trusting God.
How long will we continue this work? We will work till God guides us otherwise. What a
blessing all of you have been to us! Many of you have given financially, but most of you
have encouraged us with your words and faithful prayers. Thank you for supporting our
ministry and for loving us and God's work. Where do we stand? We stand ready to do
what God leads us to do.
May Peace and Joy be with you this Christmas and throughout the coming year.

Mission Projects
December 2011
We are now trying to decide where we will do a mission project in 2012. The majority of
our work has been in Honduras for the past several years and we are considering
returning again next year. We are still trying to support the work we helped start in Haiti,
and we are still in contact with some of our friends in Cuba and would love to return to
see and work with them one more time. There is also a possibility of doing some
ministry in South Africa, so please pray with us about where God would have us serve in
the coming year.
